The National Animal Interest Alliance (NAIA) Infiltrates County Animal Services Committee

How NAIA members have infiltrated local committees meant expressly for the welfare of shelter animals.  Their aim is to make these committees impotent, not protecting shelter animals, not holding the shelter responsible.  The NAIA is all about using animals in any way they choose for profit.

David Calderwood, NAIA national spokesperson, sits on Lane County's Animal Services Advisory Committee as the appointee of Jay Bozievich. Calderwood does not agree with "Adopt Don't Shop" as it cuts into breeder and AKC profits. For this statement alone, he should be removed from this committee, yet Commissioner Bozievich refuses.

The NAIA is an extremist, radical anti-humane organization based in Portland, Oregon. It is a front group and industry funded lobbying organization for animal commerce and agribusiness factory farms. The NAIA believes that animals can be used for profit, in any way they see fit. Humane laws are described by the NAIA as "unnecessary and unreasonable".

Agendas include financial interests, legislation and public relations for animal agribusiness, commercial breeding, hunting, fishing, trapping, fur ranching, animal testing, vivisection and animals in entertainment (rodeos and such).
The NAIA opposes any and all humane legislation, and goes to great lengths to defeat such necessary legislation all over the country.

Calderwood and the NAIA also believe that politicians can be bought.  Its interesting that Commissioner Bozievich has maintained his support for Calderwood despite ample evidence, in Calderwood's own words, that he is not fit to sit on this committee.

"This madness" is humane policies, procedures and legislation. How exactly does treating animals more humanely erode anyone's right to own an animal? It is preposterous to think that it does.

The NAIA lobbies in favor of corporate factory farms, where it is well known, animals suffer abuse.
The NAIA likes to label anyone who supports humane treatment of animals as Animal Rights or "AR". This term is used in a belittling, demeaning manner, and in a way that infers the superiority of non-AR people, which of course is not only preposterous but pretentious. Here are some of Calderwood's claims about “AR” people.

The NAIA, hand in hand with the AKC, lobby against any and all humane legislation, all over the country, because such legislation cuts into their profits. They believe that humane legislation infringes on their right to own animals, which of course, is paranoid and absurd. The biggest and best known offenders of are of course puppy mills sanctioned by the AKC. The horrendous treatment of dogs in puppy mills is well documented.
